Farming at Grey Gables

At Grey Gables we make hay for our horses and rent portions of the farm out to others who make good use of our land.   Polyface Farm cattle graze in rotation on over 100 of our acres.  This rotation method as practiced by Joel and Daniel Salatin is beneficial to our land and to their cattle.   Joel and Daniel's cattle have been grazing Grey Gables for over seven years.

Early this year we met a lovely young family relocating to the area.  They had previously apprenticed at Polyface and wanted to get started raising broiler chickens in the spring.  As it turned out they were unable to find their perfect farm to purchase in time for the spring season. We worked out a plan where they rented the Grey Gables farm house and started up their chicken business.  The old stable has been turned into a chicken brooder and chicken pens are now in the hay field enriching the soil for next year's hay.
